Pixies har en låång historia. De kom till före kristendomen och teorierna om deras härstamning och uppkomst varierar kraftigt. Det finns teorier om att de härstammar från det fornnordiska ordet svenska "pyske" som betyder pytteliten fe - men pixies är inga feer, de är ett alldeles eget folk!
Deras hemvist är framför allt på hedarna kring Devon och Cornwall i Storbritannien vid antika stensättningar och bautastenar.
Pixies finns också i Sverige och vistas då mest vid milstenar, runmärken och murar.
De är ett skälmskt naturväsen och de är oftast snälla, men kan vara väldigt busiga! De gillar att dansa många tillsammans och de dras till hästar. De rider för nöjes skull och gör flätor i manen på de hästar de rider.
Pixies är små, mycket små - max 10 cm långa och de har ett barnsligt utseende, spetsiga öron och en spetsig hatt. De är släkt med feer, tomtenissar, älvor och vättar och utgör alltså en del av det vi kallar Småfolket!
Pixies är hjälpare till Tomten (smånissarna i Disneys film på julafton?) Tingeling i Peter Pan sades vara en Pixie, men hon är nog en älva med pixiedamm :)
I en av Harry Potterböckerna släpps en flock blå (!) pixies lösa i klassrummet under en lektion osv...

The history of Pixies are loong!! They appeared long befor christianity and there are a lot of questions about their origin. Some say that the word pixie comes from the swedish word "pyske" which meens a very, very small fairy - but pixies is a folk of their own :)
They mostly live in Great Britain in the moors in Devon and Cornwall close to big old stones and walls. They also live in Sweden mostly close to milestones, stones with runes and walls of course.
Pixies are roguish mostly nice and kind but they can also be very noisy. They love to dance and they love horses. They ride for pleasure and make tangled ringlets in the manes of the horses they ride.
Pixies are small - max 10 cm tall and they look childish, they have pointed ears and hats. They are close to other creatures among "The Little People"
Pixies serve as helpers of Santa Claus. Tinker Bell in Peter Pan is said to be pixie, but she is probably a fairy with pixie dust :) In Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets a cage of blue pixies are released in the classroom
